Using high ISO with sufficient light (D200)

So David DuChemin doesn’t care too much about his ISO settings. He cares more about subjects and composition. Since he seems to make a decent living from his photos, what arguments can I use against?

So that made me wonder: what if I forget to change my high ISO setting? How does my D200 perform? The only way to really know is to test. So I went out and shot a couple of shots of the same scene at ISO 1600, 800, 400 and 200. The images are placed below. Jpgs come straight out of the camera. The only operation was a crop and a resize because I shot handheld.

My conclusion: yes, the colors become a little bit more flat, but I can “forget” about the ISO in broad daylight as well. The extra grain is noticeable, but not bothering even at ISO 1600. Thanks David.
