Scouting Xmas celebration

…in true scouting style :)

First we drove over roads that where complete ice plains. All my concentration was necessary to keep up with my predecessor and to stay on the road. With 3 kids (not my own) in my car that was a little hard. My predecessors 4 wheel drive with winter tires didn’t help either.

And seeing someone sliding off the road 2 meters down and tilting 45 degrees didn’t increase my trust in the road at all. Luckily all people (3 kids, 2 grownups) in that car only got a big scare from the accident. After making that sure nobody was injured physically, I pulled all of them out and we called a 4-wheel drive to pull them out.

Then the festivities began: campfire in the middle of the woods. Did I mention the snow? Lots of snow. It felt like it was -10 degrees Celsius. While the kids played some games, a big camp fire was made. On it, we made hot coco with cream, tomato soup, hamburgers and hot dogs. We had to eat fast, because at these temperatures the boiling tea froze up as soon as you drank it.

As all things, this also came to an end. Because everyone was tired and cold we took the easy way home. But not all of us. Kudos to the 7 people who stayed the night and slept in the cold woods! And when I got home, my wife told me it was -10 degrees Celsius outside.
