At first I thought it was water on the table, but the light reflected strangely on the water. It turned out to be frozen. Because of the reflection I wanted to light it with a flash. While the edges became visible through the shadows, lighter parts don’t show as good. The structure of the granite table is refracted where the ice works as a lens, and light of the flash only highlights parts near the edge of the ice. Thus the light edges of the ice become practically invisible. For comparison, I added a non-flashed image.
- Ice on granite
Ice on marble
